How Common is Sexual Assault?

Sexual assault is more common than most people realize. 1 in every 5 women will be sexually assaulted during college. Sexual assault is unwanted sexual contact that stops short of rape or attempted rape. This makes for one of the most under reported crimes. 42% of women do not report the crime usually because it is done by someone they know or they have feelings of guilt for why this has happened to them. This can lead to serious physical or psychological problems. Making them 13 times more likely to commit suicide than a person who hasn’t been sexually assaulted. Interfere if you see this happening to someone and if it’s happened to you, please seek assistance.
