One jury member's perspective on the case...

Both the defense and attorneys were well prepared, but presented their side of the case in different ways. The prosecution’s strategy seemed to be to use ethos as a main way to persuade the jury the man was guilty. The attorneys repeatedly brought up the accusations that his half-pound beef patties had horsemeat in them. They did this to show that the man accused of murder couldn’t be trusted and that he wasn’t ethical because there were accusations that his hamburgers may not be 100% as advertised. They wanted to show that the man didn’t have basic ethics that a normal person would have and that he could actually be responsible for such a thing as murder.

The defense used pathos for almost all of the trial. All of the people they called talked about how great of a man he was. They even mentioned how he was nominated for an outstanding citizen award, which was also used to build the ethos of the accused. I believe the defense proved the man was innocent based on the emotions of the people speaking on behalf of the man.
