Addiction......

Prescription pain killer addiction is a growing epidemic in our country, but not just for men. According to the Center for Disease Control (2013) the number of overdoses in women has increased by 400% since 1999. 30 women die per day in the US from a prescription drug overdose and these numbers are still rising. There are many things that can be done to combat this epidemic such as educating the public about this epidemic and the treatment options available for people that may already have this problem. Taking medications as prescribed and making sure that you have safe disposal and safe storage of pain killers is also an important strategy to keep them from being abused by others. Education and proper storage at two strategies for helping curb this tragic epidemic in the United States.
