The Defense Team Interviews Chris Long

Comments

During the mock trial proceedings witness number two, Chris Long, used an appeal to spite fallacy. Chris said that while in an attempt to help Teresa Jameson get her job back that she went to speak with Sandy Townsend and that Sandy said that if she seen Teresa again that she would have to hold herself back from slapping her. Chris made it seem that what Sandy said would link her to the murder of Terese because of her negative feelings and her willingness to use physical force towards Terese.

Although Sandy was angry in that moment when talking with Chris, does not automatically link her to the murder of Terese Jameson. The fact that Sandy had bitter feelings towards Terese does not automatically mean that she killed Terese.

In the video, where the defense team Interviews Chris Long, there are many examples of fallacies and warrants. The defense uses reasoning to prove Mickey should have been fired because of the amount of times she was late to work. The team asked Chris if she would have fired her for these reasons. Chris comes back with a fallacy saying they do not have an official time card to prove she was really late.

The defense uses reasoning to show that the jury should not believe what Chris is saying sense she got caught lying about Terese and could be lying now too. Chris said she wasn’t under oath at that time. The Defense tried to show that Chris would do anything to protect the homeless since she was once homeless herself.
