Ethos, Pathos, Logos
Dean Jesse Tomas's Testimony
In Dean Tomas's testimony she gave many examples of ethos and one example of pathos. Her memo addressed to the students of Columbus University was the first way she used ethos.  She stated that because she was the leader of the anti-hazing campaign that she was qualified to state/ remind the students that hazing is a violation of campus policy and a crime. Suspension will occur to those fraternities and organizations that haze, and if a particular student is caught it will result in a debate of expulsion. This demonstrates ethos because she is establishing her credibility as a Dean and her responsibilities.
The major ethos persuasion was used when she stated, "I know Chris personally, she is a great person to the University, she is also involved with me in the anti-hazing campaign. She worked with women and women's shelters. She also tutors elementary school students. Overall, She is a great person." Here she is using ethos to try to persuade the audience that Chris has a good character  and is very credible. The last way she used ethos was when she discussed to the audience that Milan was a troubled young girl that had low self esteem and would do ANYTHING to become a GAMA. I feel like ethos was used here to try to persuade the audience that Milan's character was not that great and was not that credible because she was troubled.
Dean Thomas used a brief example of pathos when she stated how completely surprised she was to hear that Pat had completely changed her whole story around. Dramatically stating how she was surprised can give off a great feeling of emotion; therefore persuading the audience that maybe they shouldn't completely believe everything that Pat says. These are just a few of the ways that Dean Thomas used ethos and pathos to persuade her audience.
